Surplus Share

Our Community Fridge started as a Surplus Share Food Scheme in November 2015 with the help from Huntingdon Market and Huntingdon allotments. In 2018 Godmanchester Food Bank bought us a fridge as Greggs were giving us products that need to be refrigerated. The Foodbank then referred people to us.

Huge thanks go out to these organisations who have helped us continue operating our Community Fridge:

Greggs in Huntingdon Town Centre & St Peters Road, Anglian Water, Co-Op Godmanchester & Co-op Cardinal Distribution Centre, Waitrose St Ives, Tesco Stukeley Meadows & Tesco Extra, Morrisons St Ives, Huntingdon Markets & Community Allotment.

There is no referral needed for this scheme- just take what you need and donate if you can.

No food goes to waste, any surplus food is also given to Jimmy’s Homeless Shelter in Cambridge.

Donate your surplus fruit and vegetables to share with others and reduce food waste. Call in each morning to see what has been collected from local stores that can no longer sell the food, but it is still fit to eat! Food is available on a ‘Take what you need, Give what you can” basis.

Let’s reduce the waste and enjoy the food
